AT MASTERCLASS

An exhibition inspired by the powerful embrace between verse and painting in Essex.

Whilst travelling by bus after a reading organised by Ken Champion at Borough, in London, John Weedon (Chelmsford artist and poet) and Derek Adams (The Essex Poetry Festival) began to visualise an unusual exhibition to celebrate this year’s Poetry Festival helping to raise the profile of Poetry throughout Essex.

The following day John rang Derek with the idea of allowing the poets to choose the pictures from his portfolio and to write individually in response thus building what has become a unique expression of alternative art and poetry presented by a Masterclass of outstanding Essex Poets.

Various poets from all over Essex were commissioned to produce poems based on John’s work. The poets Ken Champion, Julie Gilligan, Mike Harwood, Baden Prince, Anne Welsh & Philip Wilson.

Unfortunately the proposed venue let us down at the 11th hour, and so we have created this virtual exhibition for you to enjoy.
