Catherine Smith was named as one of the Poetry Book Society/Guardian’s 'Next Generation' poets - 'the twenty most exciting poets to have published a first collection in the last ten years' Her first short poetry collection, The New Bride, was short-listed for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and her book, The Butcher's Hands, received a Poetry Book Society Recommendation . Her new poetry collection, Lip, was published by Smith/Doorstop in November 2007.
Competition
Rules
1. Poems may be up
to 40 lines, and on any subject.
2. Entries must be the poet's own unpublished work.
They should not be on offer elsewhere
during this competition. Copyright
remains with the author.
3. The entry fee is £3 per poem or £10 for 5
poems.

‘POETRY IN PRACTICE’
4. Each poem should be typed on one side of A4 paper with the
title of the poem at the top of the
sheet.
The competitor's name must NOT appear on
the poem.
5. All entries must be accompanied by A4 covering sheet with
the author's name, address, &

6. Poems cannot be returned, so please don't send original manuscripts
7. The adjudicator's decision is final.
